Victory for All: Uniting for Collective Success
The Purpose of Life
To Know God and Make Him Known
What's the real deal about life? As believers, our ultimate purpose is to know God and share Him with others. It's like, our jam! The Bible says in Matthew 28:19-20, "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." That's our cue!
Knowing God isn't just about knowing stuff about Him; it's about having a real connection. Jesus said it best in John 17:3, “Now this is eternal life: that they know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.” When we know God, we get His heart, and it changes everything. We start to understand His love, His will, and His plans for us.
But here's the thing: we're not meant to keep this love to ourselves. Acts 1:8 says, "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you, and you will be my witnesses." That's our power-up to share the gospel! We become ambassadors of God's love, spreading the good news to everyone around us.
So, what does it mean to know God? It's about experiencing God in a deep, relational way. In Psalm 46:10, we're called to "Be still, and know that I am God." Knowing God requires stillness and attentiveness to His voice. It's in these moments of quiet surrender that we truly begin to understand His character, His love, and His will for us.
But it's not just about us; we're meant to share this love with others. Matthew 22:37-39 says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: "Love your neighbor as yourself." Our purpose begins with loving God fully and loving others.
Making disciples doesn't just mean going on missions or preaching from a pulpit. It involves daily actions, conversations, and choices that reflect God's love and truth. Every encounter we have with others is an opportunity to make God known. Whether it's through acts of kindness, a listening ear, or sharing our testimony, we can fulfill the Great Commission in our everyday lives.
The Power of Community
We weren't meant to do this solo. Being part of a community helps us stay on track, worship together, and grow together. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another." Community is key to living out our purpose.
When we're part of a community, we can support each other, pray for each other, and remind each other of God's love. We can share our struggles and victories, and together, we can grow in our faith.
Living Out the Great Commission
So, how do we make disciples? Matthew 28:19-20 gives us clear instructions: "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you." Baptism is a public declaration of faith, symbolizing a person's commitment to following Jesus. It's an essential part of the disciple-making process.
As we teach others to obey Jesus' commands, we help them grow in their faith and become mature followers of Christ. We can share our own experiences, struggles, and victories, and point them to God's Word for guidance and wisdom.
The Eternal Reward
Living out our purpose has eternal rewards. Matthew 25:21 says, "His master replied, 'Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master's happiness!” When we live according to our God-given purpose, we find joy in knowing that we're making an eternal impact on the lives of others and advancing God's Kingdom.
Conclusion
So, what's the takeaway? Our purpose is to know God and make Him known. It's not just for pastors or missionaries; it's for all of us. Let's live it out with faith, obedience, and love! As Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God. Let’s step out and live it boldly!"
